Both Learn and GeniusSIS offer multiple options regarding to managing Course/Organization Enrollments, which can lead to overlap in functionality. As such, we recommend that institutions (who use both services), check their settings to ensure that they align with their expectations.
Enrollments which are created directly through Learn, will not be listed within the GeniusSIS dashboard.
This includes Enrollments which were created using Learn’s native Self-Enrollment functionality.
There are a few things to consider while reviewing your Learn settings:
Does your Institution have the Course/Organization Catalog available via the Ultra Activity Stream?
This setting is located in: System Admin Panel > “Ultra Experience” > Configure > "Link to Course Catalog" / "Link to Organization Catalog"
Does your Institution have the Course/Organization Catalog link on the Login Page?
This setting is located in: System Admin Panel > Gateway Options > "Link to Course Catalog"
What Enrollment type(s) do your Courses/Organizations use?
Enrollment type is an individual setting for each Course/Organization
Clients with DDA can query the COURSE_MAIN table to check this setting. The "Self Enroll" enrollment type is denoted by a value of 'S' in the COURSE_MAIN.ENROLL_OPTION column.
Clients with Illuminate ( BB-Data ) can query this information using the CDM_LMS-COURSE-ENROLLMENT_METHOD entity
There are several ways to change the Enrollment type of Courses / Organizations
SIS Flat File Using a Course Feed file with the "Enrollment Type" header
REST API Using a PATCH request to the "/learn/api/public/v3/courses/{courseId}" endpoint and including the "enrollment" attribute in the JSON
