Node Administrator unable to search directly enrolled courses outside assigned Institutional Hierarchy node in Copy Content

Node Administrator unable to search directly enrolled courses outside assigned Institutional Hierarchy node in Copy Content.

Description

A Node Administrator who is directly enrolled as an Instructor in a course outside their assigned Institutional Hierarchy node cannot locate that course using the Copy Content search.

The course is visible in the Copy Content course list and content can be copied successfully, but searching by course name or ID returns no results.

Steps to Replicate

  1. Log in to Blackboard Learn as an Administrator

  2. Create two Ultra courses, Course A and Course B

  3. Create an Institutional Hierarchy node

  4. Associate Course A with the Institutional Hierarchy node and leave Course B unassociated

  5. Create or select a test user

  6. Assign the test user as a Node Administrator for the Institutional Hierarchy node

  7. Enroll the test user as an Instructor in both Course A and Course B

  8. Log in as the test user and open Course A

  9. Navigate to Content → Copy Content

  10. Verify that Course B is displayed in the list of available courses

  11. Search for Course B using either the course name or course ID and observe that it is returned in the search results despite not being associated with the Institutional Hierarchy node.

Observed Behavior:

Course B appears in the available course list and can be found via search even though it is not associated with the Institutional Hierarchy node managed by the user.

Expected Behavior:

Only courses associated with the Node Administrator's Institutional Hierarchy scope should be available and searchable. Course B should not be displayed or returned in search results.
