Advanced Adaptive Release settings for Group Assignments Allow to Edit Membership Criteria

Users and Groups can be added through the Advance Adaptive Release settings for Group Assignments. The User and Groups fields should not be editable in the Adaptive Release settings for Group Assignments, since they are controlled by the groups sets.

Description

Instructors and administrators can add Users and Groups through the Advance Adaptive Release settings for Group Assignments. The User and Groups fields should not be editable in the Adaptive Release settings for Group Assignments, since they are controlled by the groups sets.

Steps to Replicate

  1. Log in to Blackboard Learn as an administrator (The issue can be reproduce as an Instructor in an existing Original course)

  2. Go to System Administrator page > Courses > Courses > Create Course > New

  3. Make sure that the course is set to Original view (only In case you have logged in to an Ultra environment)

  4. Enable Quick Enroll in the course

  5. Go to Course Menu > Control Panel > Users and Groups > Users

  6. Enroll two users and assign them the Student role

  7. Go to Course Menu > Control Panel > Users and Groups > Groups

  8. Create two groups and add the users to the groups (One student per group)

  9. Go to Course Menu > Content Area (Any content area in the course)

  10. Hover over Assessments, then, select Assignment

  11. Create a Group Assignment and assign it to one the groups created in step # 8

  12. Go to Course Menu > Content Area

  13. Locate the Assignment created previously

  14. Click on the "Chevron" button (Contextual menu) and select Adaptive Release . Note that the Username field is greyed out and the Course Groups field is not editable; the following message is shown in the membership section: "The membership for this item is controlled by the groups set in the Item Properties."

  15. Navigate back to the Course Content area, repeat the previous step but selecting Adaptive Release: Advanced

  16. Note the fields Username and Course Groups are enabled, therefore, users and groups can be added.

Observed Behavior:
Users and Groups can be added through the Adaptive Release: Advanced settings; this will have no effect since the membership settings are controlled by the groups sets in the item properties (Please see the following article for more details on course groups management: https://help.blackboard.com/Learn/Instructor/Original/Interact/Course_Groups/Manage_Groups)
Expected Behavior:
The Users and Groups fields should be disabled in the Adapative Release: Advance settings, since changes in these fields will have no effect on the membership as explained above.
