Original Course Exports are Oversized due to Student Responses and Attachments From Discussions Being Downloaded Into the Package

When an Original course is exported (including links and copies of files within the course content) the downloaded package is oversized since it is unwantedly including Discussion responses and attachments.

Description

Exporting an Original course generates an oversized export package because Discussion responses and their attachments are incorrectly included, even when exporting only course content, links, and file copies.

Steps to Replicate

  1. Log into Blackboard Learn as Administrator

  2. Access a Test in Original course

  3. Enroll 2 or 3 Students

  4. Create a Discussion in the course and make it available

  5. Add a starter thread as the Instructor and a video attachment to it

  6. Login as the test students, and start replying to that starter post (make sure you include heavy attachments, like videos, audios or images)

  7. Then, back as Admin, go to Courses> look for the course ID you have tested with

  8. Click the chevron right next to the ID and click "Export/Archive"

  9. Click Export Package

  10. Select the options:
Copy links and include copies of the files in the course default directory
Copy links and include copies of the files outside of the course default directory

  11. Under Package Size, click on Calculate Size, check the expected size

  12. Under Select Course Materials you can "Select all" or select specific items as long as "Discussion Board" is selected

  13. Submit

  14. Wait for the package to appear under Packages created manually

  15. Download it

Expected Behavior:

The package size matches

Observed Behavior:

The package is oversized
