BbRouter Cookie Default Authentication Issues

BbRouter cookie default authentication issues.

Description

Users that are authenticating with local accounts (default) are experiencing intermittent issues connecting to Blackboard. Users attempting to login with correct credentials are in some cases directed back to the splash page without an error message or a recorded login attempt in the authentication logs. This appears to happen when the BbRouter Cookie doesn't exist in a bookmarked link to a site to /webapps/login/login.jsp and is generated with a re-direct from that site as well. It appears that if you have a cached and/or bookmarked URL when you try to login it does not propagate the BbRouter cookie until you clear cache and reload the page.

Steps to Replicate

  1. Verify that the BbRouter is present

  2. Enter the Username

  3. Enter any password and click Login

Expected Behavior:
Invalid Username or Password and/or no redirect. Also would expect the BbRouter cookie to be loaded upon redirect
Observed Behavior:
You are redirected to [https://blackboard.[school].edu/webapps/login/] with no error message even though the account exists in the Default authentication

Resolution / Workaround

Copy and paste the URL directly into the Browser after clearing cache and cookies.
