Description

For the standard Teaching Assistant course/organisation role, the role name was updated so that it appears as “Educator” in courses and “Teaching Assistant” in organisations. However, the role name is not displaying correctly in either courses or organisations under the Class Register.

Steps to Replicate

  1. Log in to Blackboard Learn Ultra Experience as an Administrator

  2. Navigate to Administrator Panel

  3. Go to Users > Course/Organisation Roles

  4. Locate Role ID: T

    1. Verify that the role name for Subjects (Courses) is set to “Educator”

    2. Verify that the role name for Organisations is set to “Teaching Assistant”

  5. Navigate to Administrator Panel >Language Packs > Edit > Ultra Locale

  6. Update the following strings to “Educator”

    1. course.roster.edit.teachingAssistant

    2. course.roster.roles.TEACHING_ASSISTANT

    3. global.role.T.course

  7. Update the following strings to “Teaching Assistant”

    1. organization.roster.edit.teachingAssistant

    2. organization.roster.roles.TEACHING_ASSISTANT

    3. global.role.T.organization

  8. Navigate to an Ultra Course Roster

  9. Check the displayed User Role in the roster

Observed Behavior:

The user role in course roster/register is displayed as 'Teaching assistant.

Expected Behavior:

The user role in course roster should be displayed as in the course enrollment i.e 'Educator'.

Resolution / Workaround

Changing a role's name in Blackboard Learn stops localization in the Original interface, as it overrides language pack translations. Ultra ignores this and always uses its own localization. Restore defaults by reverting the name field in Admin Tools to resume Original localization, it would be a feature request.
