Description
In the Ultra view mode, in grading workflow, instructors experience focus loss when entering scores in long rubrics that require scrolling. After entering a score in a criterion, if the instructor scrolls far enough that the edited criterion is completely out of view and then clicks another criterion’s score field, the rubric automatically scrolls back to the previously edited criterion. The newly selected score field loses focus, preventing immediate score entry.
Steps to Replicate
Log into Blackboard Learn Ultra Experience as an administrator
Navigate to Admin panel > Courses
Create and access an Ultra course
Create 2 users, an instructor and a student > Enroll these users in the course created in step 3
As the instructor, create an assignment with a rubric configured to use Point Range or Percentage Range scoring
As the student, navigate to the assignment created in step 5, and submit an attempt
As the instructor, navigate to the course > Gradebook > Open the created assignment in step 5 for grading
Click the score field for Criterion 1 and enter a value (do not press Enter)
Scroll down the rubric until Criterion 1 is completely out of view
Click the score field for another criterion that is currently visible (for example, the last criterion in the rubric)
Observed Behavior:
When the previously edited criterion is no longer visible, selecting another criterion’s score field causes the rubric to jump back to the previous criterion, and the newly selected field loses focus.
Expected Behavior:
Instructors should be able to click any criterion’s score field and immediately enter a score without losing focus or causing the rubric to scroll back to a previously edited criterion.
Resolution / Workaround
The user needs to click again on the criterion to enter the score.
