Description
When instructors view a message sent to a group, the reply text area incorrectly displays the message "Replying is disabled for this message," preventing them from replying despite replies being expected.
Steps to Replicate
Log into Blackboard Learn as an Administrator
Access an Ultra course (Access Course Settings > Disable Messages)
Access the Roster > Enroll > Instructor (Enroll yourself as an instructor, enroll 2 Students into the course)
Click Groups > New Group Set > Manually Assign (Set Visible to Students, Save)
Within Group Set > Assign (Assign both Student users to Group 1)
Navigate back to Content > Roster > Click the Student Preview user > Send Message (Send a message to one Student)
Navigate back to Groups > Group 1 > Click Send Message (Send a message to the Group)
Observed Behavior:
When course messages are disabled, instructors can still send messages to groups, but after sending a group message they see "Replying is disabled for this message" and cannot reply within the message thread, even though group messaging is available.
Expected Behavior:
If instructors are allowed to send group messages, they should also be able to reply to those group message threads
