In Original courses, when instructors use the search function in Discussions and attempt to mark threads as Read or Unread, an 'Access Denied' error appears on the screen.

Description

Instructors enrolled in Original courses encounter an "Access Denied" error when attempting to mark discussion threads as Read or Unread via the Search feature in the Discussions tool.

Steps to Replicate

  1. Log in to Blackboard Learn as an Instructor

  2. Navigate to Original Course > Discussions > Create Forum, then create two forums with default settings

  3. Open Forum 1 and create Thread

  4. Open Forum 2 and create a Thread

  5. Go to Discussions > Select Discussion > Search

  6. Update the search criteria

    1. Search: ""

    2. Before: Current Date/Time

    3. Click Go

  7. In the search results, Select All

  8. Click Grade > Unread

Observed Behavior:

An Access Denied error is being displayed on the page.

Expected Behavior:

The posts are marked as either Read or Unread.
