When hovering over a student’s name in the Grade Center, the tooltip displays the student’s first name instead of the preferred name, even when the student has configured their preferred name to be shown.

Steps to Replicate

  1. Log into Blackboard Learn Ultra Experience as an administrator

  2. Navigate to Administrator Panel > Customize User Information

  3. Enable Allow users to choose their display name

  4. Ensure Other Name is set as displayable and editable

  5. Create a course and add an assignment to the course

  6. Enroll a user in the course as a student

  7. Log in as the student and naviagte to Profile page

  8. Click Add additional name under Additional Information

  9. Enter a value for Additional Name, enable Display Additional Name, and click Done

  10. Log back in as the instructor

  11. Navigate to the course > Gradebook > Gradable Items

  12. Open the assignment > Submission

  13. Hover over the student name

Observed Behavior:

The tooltip displays the student’s first name instead of the additional (preferred) name.

Expected Behavior:

The tooltip should display the preferred name selected by the student.
