Content Copied by an Institution Role user with Read Permission on /Courses Results in a Matching XID Value for the Source and Destination Files

Content copied by a user with an Institution Role that has Read permission on /courses results in a matching XID value for source and destination files

Description

When an Institution Role is assigned Read permissions in the /course folders, it results in matching XID values for content copied by a user of that role.

Steps to Replicate

  1. Log into Blackboard Learn Ultra Experience as an administrator

  2. Create two Ultra View courses

  3. Within one of the courses create a document, this is the source course

  4. Upload a file to the document

  5. Navigate to Admin > Course Settings > Default Course Properties ensuring the following is selected:
Copy links and copies of the content
Copy only links to files stored outside of the course default directory

  6. To avoid delaying these steps by adding a new role, instead use an existing role - navigate to Manage Content > access the /courses permissions to check for an existing role

  7. Navigate to Users and create a user allocating the desired role as a Secondary Institution Role

  8. Assign the Course Administrator for System Role allowing the user to search for courses to perform course copies

  9. Log in as the new user and navigate to Admin > Courses

  10. Search for the other course which will be the destination course and navigate into it

  11. Click the ellipsis option > select Copy course and locate the source course > select the document and copy it

  12. Open the document and inspect the file - compare the source and destination files

Observed Behavior:

The XID value for the files in both the source and destination are the same and errors are observed in the logs related to the copy.

Expected Behavior:

The files have unique XID values and the copy logs do not show errors.
