Description

Users with the Course Builder role may encounter an error when opening a folder that contains gradable items (such as assignments or tests) with release conditions applied.

The error occurs when attempting to open the folder for the first time within a session. If the user closes the error and tries again, the folder opens successfully but the experience may repeat after logging out and back in.

Steps to Replicate

  1. Log into Blackboard Learn as an administrator

  2. Navigate to Admin > select Course/Organization Roles

  3. Configure or confirm a Course Builder role has limited grading permissions

  4. Create a course

  5. Create a folder within the course

  6. Inside the folder, create a gradable item (an assignment or test)

  7. Apply a Release Condition to the item

  8. Enroll a user in the course with the Course Builder role

  9. Log in as the Course Builder user

  10. Open the course

  11. Attempt to open the folder containing the gradable item

  12. After receiving the error, attempt to open the folder again and observe that it opens successfully

  13. Log out and log back in, then attempt to open the folder again

Observed Behavior:

An error message is displayed when opening the folder on the first attempt and occurs again in a new session.

Expected Behavior:

The folder opens successfully.
