In Blackboard LMS, you can download course packages to your computer or external storage to retain a permanent copy after they are automatically deleted from the system.
Where you download a package depends on how it was created:
Package type | Created by | Where to download it |
Export package | Manually | The course's Export/Archive page |
Archive package | Manually | The course's Export/Archive page |
Daily archive or final archive of a deleted course | Automatically, daily for courses with activity | The autoArchive folder in the Content Management |
Download a manual export or archive package
From the administrator panel, select Courses.
Search for the course.
Select the course ID and select Export/Archive from the menu.
Under Packages Created Manually, find the package you need.
Select a package's menu and select Open.
Select Save File to download it.
Reminder: Manually created packages auto-delete 30 days after creation, so download anything you need to keep before then.
Download an automatic daily archive
From the administrator panel, under Content Management, select Manage Content.
Open the internal folder, then open autoArchive.
Select the course folder.
Find the archive. Archives are named
<CourseID>_<PK1>_<CourseName>_<timestamp>.Select the archive and select Download package from the menu.
Save the file to external storage.
Note: Downloaded courses are converted into full, portable archives, which can make the downloaded file larger than the original.
