How do I merge and separate courses?

Merge courses

Instructors teaching multiple sections of the same course can merge them into a single parent course with associated child courses, though active courses with student submissions should never be made into a child course.

In course listings, parent and child courses always appear together. All management happens through the parent, and a child course must be separated from its parent to be edited individually.

Once merged, enrollments in the child course are replicated in the parent and stay synchronized automatically going forward.

Separate courses

You can separate courses to remove a child course from a merged set of courses. The course itself is not deleted but becomes a distinct course.
