Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) is an XML-based data format that can be used to authenticate and authorize users between separate systems. SAML can be used as a Single Sign-On (SSO) solution for Blackboard LMS. SSO saves time for both administrators and users by providing a seamless integration for logging in.
The SAML Building Block simplifies configuration of SSO. Here's a summary of the setup process:
From the administrator panel, activate the SAML Building Block. Once active, SAML appears in the Create Provider list under Admin Panel > Integrations > Authentication.
Create the provider and configure its basic settings.
Configure the service provider and identity provider settings.
Map the SAML attributes.
Test the connection.
