Overview:

SlideShare has changed the API methods for its services. This has disrupted the functionality of the SlideShare Mashup. The SlideShare Mashup is no longer supported by Blackboard, effective May 13, 2026.

Recommendation:

Blackboard recommends administrators turn off the SlideShare Mashup Tool so users don’t encounter errors using the SlideShare Mashup tool in Original courses.

Administrator Panel > Building Blocks. In the context menu for “Mashup – SlideShare,” set it to “Unavailable.”

Workarounds:

Users can link others to SlideShare content by adding links to their courses with the Content Editor link tool or by pasting URLs into the Content Editor itself.

For existing embedded SlideShare Mashup content, the URL can be retrieved by any user. For the embedded item, use your browser’s method to view HTML for a page. For example, in Chrome, select the “Watch Presentation” link (right click) and choose “Inspect” from the Chrome menu. Find the href in the “<a” section under “<div style”. This is the link to access the slides. We recommend updating Blackboard course content when possible and replacing embedded mashups with links.
