Foreign Key Constraint Violation Error When Posting Anonymized Grades Prevents Assignment Deanonymization

When posting anonymized grades, the deanonymization process fails for assignments with delegated grading, anonymous grading, and grading rubrics enabled due to a foreign key constraint violation error.

Description

When an assignment has delegated grading and anonymous grading enabled with an attached grading rubric, attempting to post anonymized grades initiates the deanonymization process. However, the process fails due to a foreign key constraint violation error, causing student submissions to remain anonymized in the gradebook.

Symptoms

Observe an error similar to the following in the bb-sqlerror-log:

2026-05-19 11:00:46 +0100 - [ERROR] DELETE FROM evaluation_entity WHERE pk1 = failed. - org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: update or delete on table "evaluation_entity" violates foreign key constraint "rubric_link_fk2" on table "rubric_link"

Steps to Replicate

  1. Log in to Blackboard Learn as an Instructor

  2. Open an Ultra course

  3. Create an assignment and attach a grading rubric

  4. Enable Anonymous Grading for the assignment

  5. Enable Delegated Grading and assign more than two graders

  6. Log in as a student and submit the assignment

  7. As a delegated grader, grade the submission anonymously using the attached rubric

  8. Log back in as the instructor and open Reconcile Grades for the student's attempt

  9. Submit the reconciled grade, including rubric feedback

  10. Post all grades

Observed Behavior:
The student's submission remains anonymized.

Expected Behavior:
The student's submission should be automatically deanonymized.
