Description
When an administrator tries to update an LTI tool (by registering it again), the system will show an 'Unable to save application' error if the domain was updated with different case-sensitive information than the already registered.
This also applies to the redirect URLs, if they don't match even in case sensitivity, the system will show an error indicating that the redirect URL is invalid.
Steps to Replicate
Log into https://developer.blackboard.com/
Under My Applications, click on the plus button (+) to create a new app > Manual Registration
Type a name and a description
Under domain, type any domain
Enable the slider next to 'My Integration supports LTI 1.3' and paste the same domain but this time using https:// at the start
Click on Register application and save the Application ID value given by the portal
Log into Blackboard Learn Ultra Experience as an administrator
Go to System Admin > LTI Tool Providers > Register LTI 1.3/advantage
Paste the Application ID and click on Submit > Submit again to save the tool
Once the tool is created, go back to the Developer Portal and click on the ellipsis (...) next to the created App > Edit
Under the Domains field, edit the domain and change one or multiple letters from lowercase to uppercase
Click on Update Application at the bottom
Log into Blackboard Learn Ultra Experience as an administrator
Go to System Admin > LTI Tool Providers > Register LTI 1.3/advantage
Paste the same Application ID and click on Submit > Submit again to save the updates
Observed Behavior:
An error is shown stating "Unable to save the tool".
Expected Behavior:
The application is saved without issue.
Target Release
Functioning as Designed
Information
The domain (either lower or upper case) in Learn is always converted to lowercase. So, when trying to re-register the same application in Learn with a slightly different domain case, it will not matter as the user is attempting to register the same application ID with the same domain which is not allowed. So, this behavior is 'Functioning as Designed'.
