Broken Images After Content Edits and Re-saves

Broken Images may occur after editing content and re-saving it.

Description

After the initial save, any images or files embedded in the content editor (e.g., in documents or test questions) are correctly moved from the temporary session folder to permanent storage. However, when the content is later edited and additional images or files are added, these new items are not moved and remain in the temporary session folder causing broken links on subsequent saves.

Steps to Replicate

  1. Log in to Blackboard Learn as an instructor

  2. Open an Ultra course

  3. Navigate to the Content area and create a new Test

  4. Add a True/False question.

  5. In the Question Text editor, click the Image icon

  6. Upload an image file and save the test question

  7. Verify that the uploaded image is stored in permanent storage, with a URL similar to:
    https://hostname/bbcswebdav/pid-nnnn-dt-asiobject-rid-nnnnn_1/xid-nnnnn_1

  8. Edit the same question and upload a different image, then save it.

  9. Inspect the URL of the second image

Observed Behavior:
The image URL points to a temporary session folder with a URL similar to:
https://hostname/sessions/nn/...../<image file name>

Expected Behavior:
The image should be stored in permanent storage, with a corresponding permanent URL.
