When Course Availability Uses Days from the Date of Enrollment the Time is not Rounded up to Midnight

When Course Availability Uses Days from the Date of Enrollment the Time is not Rounded up to Midnight.

Description

Users and Administrators expect that enrollment availability would start and end at Midnight for their respective dates. However, the 'Days from the Date of Enrollment' option uses the exact enrollment timestamp as the basis for its calculations. As a result, students can have their access to a course cut short on the last day.

Steps to Replicate

  1. Log into Blackboard Learn Ultra Experience as an administrator

  2. Go to System Admin > Course > Create a new Ultra View Course

  • Set the Course Availability to "Yes"

  • Set the Duration to "Days from the Date of Enrollment: 1"

  1. Enroll a student in the Course and take note of the current time; preferably this should not be done exactly on the hour and must not be at Midnight ( either local time or GMT)

  2. Wait until 24 hours have passed and log in as the student

  3. Attempt to access the Course

Observed Behavior: The student is able to access the course.
Expected Behavior: The student is able to access the course.

  1. Wait a little longer until 24 hours have elapsed from the enrollment timestamp, but before midnight GMT or Midnight local time.

Observed Behavior:
As soon as the 24 hour point has passed, to the second, the student is no longer able to access the course. They receive an error message stating:
"You can't access this course right now.
Your instructor will allow access when the course is ready. Please try again".
Expected Behavior:
The student is able to access the course because it is not yet midnight (either in local time or GMT).
