Description
In Original Course View, when an instructor enables Student Preview, the Student Preview banner appears below the global navigation bar. Because the global navigation bar remains visible, the Student Preview user is able to navigate to other courses. In Ultra Course View, the Student Preview banner hides the global navigation bar, preventing course switching. This behavioral difference allows unintended navigation in Original Course View and has resulted in errors when switching back to the original course.
Steps to Replicate
Log into Blackboard Learn as an instructor, and access an Original Course
Enable Student Preview
Observe that the Student Preview banner is displayed below the global navigation bar
Use the global navigation bar to navigate to another course
Attempt to return to the original course
Observed Behavior:
In Original Course View, the global navigation bar remains visible during Student Preview. The Student Preview user can navigate to other courses, and in some cases, encounters an error message when switching back to the original course, stating “Oops! Something went wrong.”
Expected Behavior:
When Student Preview is enabled in Original Course View, the Student Preview banner should hide or disable the global navigation bar, consistent with Ultra Course View, preventing navigation to other courses.
