Save Button Enabled After Entering Metadata in Fill-in-the-Blank Questions in Ultra

In Ultra view mode, when creating a Fill-in-the-Blank question, entering metadata (e.g., tags) enables the Save button even if no question text has been provided.

Description

In Ultra view mode, when creating a Fill-in-the-Blank question, entering metadata (e.g., tags) enables the Save button even if no question text has been provided. If the Save button is clicked, an error message (“Oops! Something went wrong.”) appears instead of a validation warning.

Steps to Replicate

  1. Log into Blackboard Learn Ultra Experience as an Administrator or Instructor

  2. Create and access an Ultra course

  3. Navigate to Course Content > Create > Test

  4. In the test, click Create Question

  5. Select Add > Fill in the Blank question type

  6. Leave the Question text field blank

  7. Enable Question metadata

  8. Enter a tag (e.g., "test") in the metadata field

  9. Click Save

Observed Behavior: The Save button is enabled even without question text. Clicking Save triggers an error message: "Oops! Something went wrong."

Expected Behavior: The Save button should remain disabled until question text is entered.
