Description
In Ultra view mode, when an Assessment-type gradebook column with Auto Zero enabled is copied using Course Copy, automatic zeros are not consistently assigned to all students after the due date passes. Some students remain in status U instead of receiving an auto-zero grade.
Steps to Replicate
Prerequisites:
A SaaS environment with Auto Zero feature enabled at the system level.
Replication Steps:
Log into Blackboard Learn Ultra Experience as an administrator
Navigate to Admin panel > Courses
Create and access an Ultra course
Create 4 users, an instructor and 3 students > Enroll these users in the course created in step 3
As the instructor, create a Quiz/Test (Assessment type — not an Offline Assignment) with:
A due date set in the near future
enforce_due_date = off ("Allow submissions after due date" enabled)
Auto zero must be enabled on the column
Make the quiz visible to students
Copy the course to a new course using Course Copy (Content Exchange)
Enroll the same or new test students in the copied course
Wait until the due date set in step 5 passes and allow additional time for the overdue processing task to run (typically 3–8 minutes)
As the instructor, navigate to the copied course created in step 7 > Gradebook, and review student statuses for the assessment
Observed Behavior:
For Assessment-type columns copied via Course Copy, Auto Zero is only applied to some students. Other students remain in status U without an automatic zero assigned.
Expected Behavior:
For Assessment-type columns copied via Course Copy, Auto Zero should be consistently assigned to all students who did not submit after the due date passes.
