Description
A Large Amount of Emails for old Announcements Were Sent by Learn During the Upgrade Process to Version 3900.76.
Steps to Replicate
Replication steps are not available since this issue was reproduced just once while the upgrade to version 3900.76 was being done.
Cause
A one-time upgrade process rewrote announcements due to a change in the announcement database table. If the announcement was old enough that the corresponding notification was expunged, then a new notification was generated in error, hence the emails were sent.
Resolution / Workaround
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this issue. However, after carefully reviewing the matter we have decided that this should be closed as 'will not fix.' It's impossible to recall the emails which were already sent and this is a one-off issue.
