Course Menu Text Color is not Clearly Visible Using Certain Themes

The Course Menu text color is not clearly visible when using certain themes.

Description

The Course Menu text color is not clearly visible when using certain themes.

Steps to Replicate

  1. Login as Administrator.

  2. Go to System Admin > Communities > Brands and Themes > Customize default brand.

  3. Select Bb Learn 2012 as default theme (if it is not selected).

  4. Navigate into a Course.

  5. Click Customization > Quick Setup Guide > Choose a Course Theme menu > Select a Theme.

  6. Select the theme (Angel, Astronomy, or Chalkboard).

Expected Result:
Navigation links are visible in the navigation panel.
Observed Result:
Specific links not are visible depending on the theme chosen (home link; subheader link; course management title).

Cause

In theme_specific.css file,

.navPaletteContent h3 a.submenuLink_active::before {
color:#036!important;
}

the !important tag overrides any other colors.

Resolution / Workaround

Edit the theme and remove the CSS code that keeps the color from obeying the same rules as the rest of the course menu. Change this code in theme_specific.css:

.navPaletteContent h3 a.submenuLink_active::before {
color:#036!important;

to this:

.navPaletteContent h3 a.submenuLink_active::before {
/*color:#036!important;*/

Then re-upload the theme and ensure all of the top frame banner images are saved as they may disappear after changing the theme.
