Time Limit Accommodation Allows Students to Bypass IP Restrictions

When a test or an assignment is created with a location IP address restriction, a student who was added to a time limit accommodation can take the test as if the IP restriction was not there, from a denied location.

When a test or an assignment is created with a location IP address restriction, a student who was added to a time limit accommodation can take the test as if the IP restriction was not there, from a denied location.

Steps to Replicate

  1. Log into Blackboard LMS as an administrator

  2. Create an Ultra course

  3. Enrol a student

  4. Add an Assignment

  5. In the Assignment settings, set a Location Restriction under Assessment Security

  6. Also set a Time Limit

  7. Go to the Course Roster

  8. Add a Time Limit Accommodation to the student

  9. Log in as the student user from a restricted IP address

Observed Behavior:
User can take the test.

Expected Behavior:
User should not be able to take the test as they are accessing from a restricted IP.
