Assessment IP Address Filtering lets you restrict where students can access a test from — for example, limiting a high-stakes exam to a proctored lab's network — to reduce the risk of students taking (or having someone else take) a test from an unauthorized location.
To set it up:
Go to Administrator Panel > Course Settings > Grading Security Settings.
Select Add Profile to create a new IP profile.
Give the profile a clear, natural-language name (so instructors can recognize it when choosing it) and enter one or more IP filters — the range of addresses corresponding to your testing lab's network. You can add multiple filters to one profile to cover multiple labs.
Optionally add custom help text students see if they try to access the test from outside the allowed range.
Once saved, instructors apply the profile to restrict a specific assessment by location.
Note: Profiles must be created one at a time and can't be deleted once created, though you can create as many as you need and search for them by name on the Grading Security Settings page.
