When creating assigned connections, the default setting is to Connect Units Up.
Navigate to the appropriate organizational unit and term, then click on the learning outcome. Choose the Connection option, then select Assign assessment to other unit(s).
In this example, I have clicked on outcome ILO 1 Quantitative Reasoning and chosen Assign to open the Connections Window.
Before creating the assigned connection, check to make sure that the Connect Units Up switch is toggled on. The switch is toggled on when it appears green and the circle is on the right side of the display.
This setting will automatically fill in links on the assignment chain between the direct links.
Create a direct assignment link to your assessment end point. You may do this by clicking on the small arrow to the left of a unit's name to expand that unit and assign the outcome further down the organizational chart.
In this example, I will create an assignment chain directly from Academic Affairs to the course Economics 210. With Connect Units Up toggled on, Anthology Outcomes will automatically pass the connection through units on the assignment chain path. The assignment chain will then be created from Academic Affairs to the College of Business to the Economics department and finally to the course Economics 210.
Always remember to Save any assignment chain you have made.
Switching Off the Feature
You may manually switch off the Connect Units Up feature before creating a new assigned connection. When Connect Units Up is switched off, it will appear orange and the circle will be on the left side.
When the feature is switched off, the outcome is assigned only to the unit, course or section that you select. There is no connection through units on the assignment chain path.
If you switch Connect Units Up off, it will not remove or edit any existing assigned connections that were made with the Connect Units Up feature enabled.
In this example, I toggled Connect Units Up off. I then assigned the outcome from Academic Affairs directly to the course Economics 210. Note that the College of Business and the Economics department are not included in the Assigned Units/Courses list.
Always remember to Save any assignment chains you make.
