E-notation Numerical Answers Display as Large Numbers in Calculated Numerical Questions

E-notation numerical answers display as large numbers in Calculated Numerical questions

Description

Numbers equal to and larger than 1E16 but smaller than 1E21 entered in E-notation (exponential format) by instructors are converted to long format numbers in Calculated Numerical and Calculated Formula questions. Additionally, large numbers in normal format with more than 16 digits are not accepted and cannot be saved.

Steps to Replicate

  1. Log into Blackboard Learn as an administrator

  2. Create an Ultra View course

  3. Navigate into the course and create a test

  4. Create a Calculated Numeric question in the test

  5. Add some text for the question entering the following value as the answer: 1E20

  6. Save the question and observe the answer value

Observed Behavior:

100,000,000,000,000,000,000 is displayed - the numerical answer is not displayed in exponential format for large numbers below 1E21.
